Setup Green-GO Talk App

The Green-GO Talk application allows you to connect to a Green-GO intercom system using a desktop or mobile device. It provides access to users, groups and channels in the same way as a user station, making it ideal for remote operation, monitoring or temporary workstations. This section explains what is required to use Green-GO Talk, how to set it up and how to resolve common issues.

What do you need?

To use the Green-GO Talk application, the following requirements must be met:

Hardware & Operating System

  • A supported device: Windows or macOS computer / iOS device, iPadOS or Android smartphone/tablet with working microphone and audio output (built‑in or external headset).
  • A Green-GO bridge device like the Bridge X.
  • A stable network connection (internet or local network).

Software

  • Green-GO Talk application installed on the device.
  • A computer running the Green-GO Control software.

Network

  • A connection to the same IP network as the Green-GO system, or;
  • A properly routed network that allows multicast and unicast traffic.
  • Correct IP settings (DHCP or static, matching the system).
  • Access to the configured UDP port on the Bridge port used, either through port forwarding or VPN, is only required when a connection over the internet (WAN) is needed.

Setup steps

1. User setup

  • Create a new user with "APP" as a device profile or;
  • Add the "APP" device profile to an existing user (optional).

2. Bridge setup

There are 2 ways to setup your network:

  • Separate LAN for internal and external or;
  • One LAN for all.

Bridge Port settings

  • Set Port mode to "Fixed user".
  • Select a User from the dropdown menu.

UDP port

The UDP port defines the target bridge port for the remote connection.

Options
  • 00000 - 99999

Tip: Keep in mind that each bridge port can accept and serve only one connection.

Password

This defines the authentication password needed for a connection to a bridge port.

Options
  • 8 characters: A - Z, a - z, 0 - 9, +, -

Notice: The password is always eight characters long!

Send buffer

The send buffer is used to buffer potential jitter on the outgoing connection.

Options
  • 10 ms
  • 20 ms
  • 30 ms
  • 40 ms

Tip: This setting usually only requires configuration in case of a bad or high latency connection.

Receive buffer

The receive buffer is used to buffer potential jitter on the incoming connection.

Options
  • 20 ms - 200 ms (10 ms increments)

Tip: This setting usually only requires configuration in case of a bad or high latency connection.

Warning: This service is not live.

Cloud ID

The eight-character cloud ID defines the session for the connection and is needed to authenticate with the cloud service.

Tip: Keep in mind that each bridge port can accept and serve only one connection.

Password

This defines the authentication password needed for a connection to a bridge port.

3. Connection

Connecting to a Local Network (over WiFi)

  • Connect your device to the local network. (This can be done by ethernet or WiFi)
  • Make sure your device is in the same IP range as the Green-GO bridge on the network.
  • Open the Green-GO Talk App on your device and go to the settings .
  • Under Connection you can choose between 3 connection modes:

The Classic way to setup a connection to a bridge. This still can have a place in local but routed connections like a WiFi link or between buildings on a campus. Internet access is not needed.

IP Address

Match the IP Address from the external network interface of the bridge.

Port

Match the UDP port number set on the bridge port.

Password

Match the password set on the bridge port.

The Search IP connection is a semi automatic method of connecting remote devices on a single LAN with un-routed connections but unreliable timing like wifi or VPN links. The key is that the remote device or active bridge port are on the same subnet as the passive bridge port. Internet access is not needed.

Warning: Cloud connections can not be use on local networks.

Connecting to an External Network (over the internet)

  • Connect your device to the internet. (This can be done by ethernet, WiFi or a cellular data connection)
  • Open the Green-GO Talk App on your device and go to the settings .
  • Under Connection you can choose between 3 connection modes:

IP Address

Fill in the public (WAN) IP Address or DNS address from the Passive side of the bridge connection.

Warning: A port forwarding rule must be configured on the Gateway/Router at the Passive Bridge side for each Bridge connection port. Alternatively, a stable VPN connection may be used.

Port

Match the UDP port number set on the bridge port.

Password

Match the password set on the bridge port.

Warning: The Search IP connection can only be used on local networks.

Connect through the cloud, use the Green-GO cloud connect service to ease the setup of a connection between sites. There is no need to worry about remote or external IP addresses or port forwarding.
