Fast and Flexible Configuration

Templates are snapshots of one or multiple cards. These templates can be used to store a set of properties and reuse these settings later for different (groups of) users or devices.

A template could be e.g.:

  • A set of audio properties for a specific headset type
  • A set of GPIO properties for a specific interface
  • A complete basis for a user
  • A channel template

Templates take a snapshot of a card when created. Properties are copied from the template to the user or device when loaded. There is no permanent link, therefore updating a template will not update all users or devices that loaded the template and changing a property on a user or device will not update the template.

Templates are however transparent. When a Template is created from e.g. an Audio card in a device profile with only the input properties set, the template will only include the input properties. When this template is loaded on a device that has the output properties already set up, these will not be affected by loading the template.

Templates Overview

Templates-overview

The Template view contains a list of all created templates and their details. The list of templates can be sorted or filtered by any of the available columns, making it easier to search through a large number of templates

Templates view fields

Name

The name of the template. It is advisable to maintain a logical naming system so as to easily identify different templates.

Template Cards

The Cards column shows the names of the cards that are currently present in the template.

Template View

Template-overview

The main view of a template gives an overview of the saved cards and the properties stored in the cards. Properties cannot be edited in the template itself, but entire cards can be removed by pressing the menu button and selecting Delete.

Creating Templates

Template-save

A template can be created from any card in a user or device view. To create a template, click the menu button and select Save. Enter a name to create a new template or select an existing template by pressing the down button. A card in an existing template will be overwritten if a newer version of the card is saved to this template. When a card is saved to an existing template that did not yet include this specific card, a multi-card template will be created and the selected card will be added to the template. A template can contain all the cards present in the user view, thus serving as a complete user blueprint.

Updating Templates

Existing templates can be updated by overwriting cards that have been modified in the user or device. Select the card with the properties that need to be saved, click the menu button and choose Save. Then, select the template to be updated.

Loading Templates

Template-load

To load a template to a user/device card, click the menu button. Under Load template all templates with matching cards will be listed. Select the desired template to load the settings from its saved card to the current window.

Load Default

The template menu has a Load default option. Selecting this option will load the default properties for the card.

Clear Card

The template menu has a Clear option for cards in the user view, as the properties for a user can be empty. When a user with empty properties is loaded onto a device, it will adopt the properties as set on the device. The Clear option can be used to clear an entire card so all properties are empty.
