The Quick Start into your own config

Setting up a Green-GO system with a custom configuration can be done in a couple of steps using the Green-GO Control software and its quick start wizard. Below is the recommended order of steps to set up a Green-GO system. These steps can be executed and repeated in any order if desired.

The Quickstart wizard

the QUICK START wizard can be started from the opening splash screen or from the top right folder-solid File dropdown menu.

The Quick Start Wizard will guide the user through four steps to create a basic config. The wizard can be used as a 5-minute system setup or as a starting point for a more complex system. Clicking the NEXT button will take the user through the consecutive steps of the wizard. Once a step has been completed it is still possible to go back to previous steps by clicking the BACK button and making the necessary corrections.

Config Step

Quickstart-config

  • Config Name The name of the config can be set here
  • Program Audio If enabled, a program audio group is created
  • Announcement Channel If enabled, an announcement group is created

Program Audio

Program Audio can be used to add e.g. a stage sound feed into the output mix on a device

  • Creates Group with ID: 400 and name: PGM
  • Assigns this group to ALL users on the program audio channel with a level of -6 dB and dim of -6 dB

Announcement Channel

The Announcement channel is a special listen-only channel. The Announcement channel has a higher priority than regular channels. Incoming audio on the Announcement channel will attenuate all other channels

  • Creates a Group with ID: 399 and name: Announce
  • Assigns this group to ALL users on the announcement channel
  • Sets priority dim on ALL users to -6dB

Users Step

Quickstart-users

Initially, 1 user field is created where a user name can be entered.

The ADD button will add an extra user field. The recycle bin button can be used to delete a previously created field. Up to 10 users can be created with the Quick Start Wizard.

Pressing the NEXT button will automatically create a user for each field.

Groups Step

Quickstart-Groups

Initially, 1 group field is created where a group name can be entered.

The ADD button will add an extra group field. The recycle bin button can be used to delete a previous created field. Up to 10 groups can be created with the Quick Start Wizard.

Channels Step

Quickstart-channels

In the Channels step, the created groups can be assigned to the created users. The matrix presented on screen will show groups in the columns and users in the rows. Ticking a checkbox will assign the group to the first available channel.

The channel assignment will be done in the order that the checkboxes are ticked in. This is indicated by the number in the checkbox

When the Program and/or Announcement channel is created, the last columns will allow a created user to talk to the program or announcement group.

Clicking the CREATE CONFIG button will create the config file. After creation of the config file, devices need to be adopted and a user needs to be assigned needs to be assigned to each device.

Adopt Devices

All devices in your network need to be members of the same config to be able to communicate.

To adopt one or multiple Not adopted devices to the current config file, go to the organization-solid Network view and;

Network-adopt

Adopt Selected Devices

  • tick their corresponding checkboxes
  • click the ADOPT button
  • make sure the adopt selected option is ticked on the confirmation popup
  • select YES to adopt the selected devices
  • the devices change their state to connected

Network-adopt

Adopt All Devices

  • click the ADOPT button
  • make sure the adopt all option is ticked on the confirmation popup
  • select YES to adopt all devices
  • the devices change their state to connected
Join a Config With a Device

Green-GO devices can join an active config on the network;

  • Enter the device menu
  • Select Config
  • Select Join Config
  • select the desired config from the listed configs on the network
  • Confirm joining the config

The device is now a member of the config and is also shown on the Network view as connected.

Assigning Users to Devices

Devices that are adopted and connected to the Green-GO Control software are shown under Devices in the menu tree. Devices that are newly adopted to a config will have no user assigned to them and all settings will be set to default. Every device or port needs a user assigned to it to be able to communicate with other users or groups. One user can be assigned to multiple devices. Assigning a user to a device can be done in two ways.

Selecting Devices to Assign Users To

Device-user-assign

  • To select one or multiple device(s) click on the Devices item in the menu tree. This opens up the Devices view on the main window.
  • Tick one or several checkboxes on the Devices view, then click the DETAILS button to display the Devices. Only devices from the same type can simultaneously have users assigned to them.

Drag and Drop

Using drag-and-drop, assigning a user to a device can be done in the following ways;

  • Drag and drop a user onto the Channel tab
  • Drag and drop a user to the area above the image of the device with the user icon and VU meter
Drop user on device

  • Drag and drop a device from the menu tree to a user in the Users view
  • Drag and drop a device from the menu tree to the selected Users view in the channels tab
Drop device on User

Setting up audio levels

The final and most important step in the setup of your Green-GO device is setting up the correct audio input settings. Each microphone has its own characteristics and therefore its gain needs to be set correctly. Setting the gain is done in the Audio profile of the device

Finding the right gain

Setting the right input gain and compression is important in order to prevent distortion, clipping or high signal-to-noise ratios.

  • Select the right input source vu
  • Turn off compressor and gate
  • Speak into the microphone with a proper volume and from a close enough distance
  • Raise or lower the gain so that the VU meter is around the wite line; 0dB
  • Increasing and lowering the volume of speech should keep the VU meter in the orange zone; -12dB through 6dB
  • If the dynamic vocal range is too high, the compressor can be enabled.
  • To cut off background noise the gate can be set. Make sure that the gate is not triggered when speech is at a low level.

Setting up Audio Input on Devices Using Green-GO Control

Setting up the audio input gain device by device using the Green-GO Control software gives the user full control over each device.

  • Select one or multiple devices with the same headset type
  • Select the audio tab
  • Find the right gain

Setting up Audio Input on a Physical Device

The Audio can also be configured with the menu on a device itself.
