Wireless WAA setup guide¶

Green-GO wireless belt packs connect over DECT to a Green-GO WAA wireless antenna. As per the DECT specification, both connection partners need to authenticate against each other. This process is generally referred to as pairing.

With Green-GO 5, the configuration of your wireless DECT pairings has been redesigned. We now distinctly distinguish between ad-hock over-the-air and X-Pool pairings. These pairings are configured and grouped in pools, each containing up to four wireless belt packs.

The ad-hock over-the-air pools are configured and managed exclusively on the devices themselves. Meaning, while monitoring devices is possible with the software, adding or removing devices from an OTA pool is not. Also, roaming is not supported using this method.

The X-Pool pairings are set up by connecting the belt packs via USB to the Green-GO Control software and features roaming between up to 7 antennas.

It is possible to have multiple pools of different types in one Green-GO system. However, all pools share the same DECT frequency space. Therefore the amount of possible connections is limited and influenced by the local environment.

This guide aims to explain the different possible wireless configurations and layout their advantages and shortcomings in use. Further guidance on the involved devices can be found in their respective device documentation.

Device preparations¶

It is advised to clear the DECT module of all involved devices before you start configuring your pairings or change the pairing method.

Clearing the module will remove all existing pairings and reset all active connections.

Reset an antenna's DECT module¶

Please follow these steps to clear the DECT module of your WAA antenna:

1. When powered up, your WAA wireless antenna will indicate its current status with the status LED. The sequence shown below may be followed by a short red flash, indicating no configuration members could be found on the local network.
2. Press the Button on the bottom of the device for approximately two seconds. The status LED will quickly blink green and switch to a slow red flash to indicate an enabled pairing mode.
3. Press and hold the Button for approximately ten seconds to start the reset of the DECT module. While beginning the clearing process, the status LED will flash red with medium frequency. Once the process has been initialized, the status LED will change its pattern to a short green flash followed by a very long red flash.
4. Release the Button.
5. The reset will take approximately 20 seconds to complete. After the reset has been finished, the pattern of the status LED will return to the OTA status.

Reset a belt pack's DECT module¶

The DECT module of a WBPX or WBPXSP wireless belt pack can be cleared in the DECT setup menu. After the process has been initiated, a popup featuring the message Program Wireless is shown. The process is completed after the message disappears.

DECT frequency ranges & region¶

Before you start using your wireless system, you should make sure that your devices are operating in the correct frequency range. This is primarily done in the connection view inside the Green-GO Control software.

Green-GO devices with a DECT module can operate in different frequency ranges, depending on the region the devices are used in. Green-GO currently supports the frequency ranges for the following regions:

• 1880 ‒ 1900 MHz (Europe and Australia)
• 1893 ‒ 1906 MHz (Japan)
• 1920 ‒ 1930 MHz (US and Canada)

The devices will operate in the frequency range of 1880 ‒ 1900 MHz (Europe and Australia) after being delivered from the factory.

Check or re-configure the DECT region¶

Software¶

To check or re-configure the active region of a device's DECT module, you need to check the device's details. You can access the device details in the Network or USB tab, depending on the device's connection type.

You bring up the device details by either selecting the device(s) and clicking the edit button on the top right afterwards. Alternatively, you can do a double-click on a single device.

The following popup features the currently used DECT region in the Dect tab.

If needed you can change the region by selecting it in the drop-down menu and clicking the save button. This will close the popup and re-program the device's DECT module.

Any changes saved here will be persistent across any restarts, resets, or firmware updates.

Wireless belt packs¶

While it is not possible to change the DECT region, it is possible to view the currently used DECT region. This is done in the device's Dect setup menu:

Ad-hock over-the-air pairings¶

Over-the-air pairings are quick and easy to set up but are limited in functionality:

When the over-the-air-pairing method is chosen, a belt pack can connect to only one antenna, meaning roaming between antennas will not be possible using this method.

A single over-the-air pool can contain a maximum of four belt packs and one antenna. However, multiple pools can coexist in a Green-GO network. The only limitation is the local usage of the RF spectrum.

The configuration and setup are done on the devices themselves; the process is entirely independent of the software. The Green-GO Control software can only be used to monitor these wireless connections.

Configure an OTA pairing¶

The pairing of devices is done in sequence, meaning you can only pair one device at a time.

Enable pairing mode on the antenna¶

Before you can pair a wireless device, you need to enable the pairing mode on the Green-GO WAA wireless antenna. You do this by pressing the Button for approximately two seconds.

The status LED will quickly blink green five times and switch to a slow red flash to indicate an enabled pairing mode.

With the pairing mode enabled, the status LED will indicate the current slot ID being set up by flashing the status LED green.

An antenna with all four available slots occupied or configured in X-Pool mode will refuse to enter pairing mode and indicate this by a medium alternating red/green flash.

Pair the belt pack¶

Next, you can start the pairing on the wireless belt pack by navigating to the DECT setup menu. Here, you can start the pairing by selecting Pair Antenna. If this entry is missing, the belt pack is already connected to an antenna - in this case, you should reset the DECT module.

A popup on the belt pack will inform the user about the pairing status.

Monitor the connections¶

While it isn't possible to do any configurations on an ad-hock over-the-air connection itself, it is possible to monitor your ad-hock over-the-air pairings with the Green-GO Control software. The software automatically picks up all wireless pools regardless of the type.

You can monitor a device's connection in multiple places:

1. The dashboard features a card for all pools that are members of the configuration.
2. The device overview lists all devices that are configuration members. Wireless devices feature indicators for battery levels and reception.
3. The wireless view lists and gives access to all pools and clients found during the software's runtime. Over-the-air pools are indicated by the symbol next to the pool name.

X-Pool pairings¶

The X-Pool pairing method allows for more flexibility and enables belt packs to roam between up to seven antennas.

However, the configuration is done exclusively with the Green-GO Control software and requires all devices to directly connect to the software while being programmed. This means all wireless belt packs have to be connected via USB to any computer on the local network running the Green-GO Control software.

Create an X-Pool¶

X-Pool pairings are configured on the Pools tab in the wireless view of the Green-GO Control software. A new pool can be created by clicking the add button on the top right.

This will bring up a popup guiding you through the creation of the pool:

1. Name the pool.
2. Add up to seven access points (antennas).
3. Add up to four clients (belt packs).

The second and third steps will only show devices that are not already paired. By enabling the option Show all access points, you can forcefully overwrite the configured pairings of the devices selected.

Adding clients to a pool is only possible if the devices are connected via USB to any Green-GO Control software on the network. However, clients can be added or removed later on.

Closing the popup by pressing the create button will program all previously selected devices

Delete a Pool¶

Removing a pool is done by selecting its check-box in the Pools tab and clicking the delete button on the top right.

Edit an existing X-Pool¶

It's possible to add or remove clients (belt packs) and access points (antennas) from an X-Pool after it has been created. You can remove these in the X-Pools's detail view available in the navigation bar on top.

Add clients¶

If the pool's local maximum of four clients hasn't been reached, you can add a belt pack by pressing the add clients button on the top right.

The following popup will list all adopted antennas that are not already paired. By enabling the option Show all access points, you can forcefully overwrite the configured pairings of the selected belt pack(s).

By clicking the yes button you close the popup and program all (connected) members of a pool.

Add access points¶

If the pool's local maximum of seven antennas hasn't been reached, you can add an antenna by pressing the add access points button on the top right.

The following popup will list all adopted antennas that are not already paired to an X-Pool. By enabling the option Show all access points, you can forcefully overwrite the configured pairings of the selected belt pack(s).

By clicking the yes button you close the popup and program all (connected) members of a pool.

Remove access points or clients¶

Access points and clients can be removed by selecting their corresponding check-boxes and pressing the button remove selected on the top right.

Doing this will program all connected devices and delete the pairings.
